The Cult of Fitness: Why Being Fit is Important Nowadays

Of course, everyone would like to be “fit”. But let’s face facts first: it’s not easy getting the ideal body that we want. It takes some really, really hard work and determination. But being fit is just more than looking good; clichéd as it may sound, but being fit means that you have to feel good, as well. So, should we proceed on our “laundry list” on why we have to list the reasons why being fit is important? Then let’s get a move on then!

One thing that people need to remember when talking about fitness is that it is not gauged by how thin your body is, which is still a common misconception in some circles. It is measured by the way that you move about, and by how well you can perform your activities of daily living

Of course, being fit involves more than just having a great bod; it also can involve having your mind functioning well. Why is that? Well, remember how constantly exercising can improve our circulation? Well, that is also true with how our brain works, as well. Having an improved circulation means that your brain is getting the necessary oxygen that it needs to function well, so this can certainly prove to be beneficial in the long-term. Think about it; if your job seems to get the best of you, at least you can cope with the extra stress that life can throw at your face.

Okay… so what else is there to talk about? Oh yes, it can reduce the chances of us being ill! Well, if you think about how many overweight people are suffering from high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, and stroke, the chances of it being coincidental are thrown out the window. Other than that, it can also boost the strength of your immune system for well… for the rest of your life, if you wish. So, you can say good bye to your chances of acquiring common cold and making excuses as to why you can’t go to work today.

Oh, and since we are still on the subject of “physical fitness”, we also have to take into account the various benefits that fitness can bring on your body. For one, it can increase the endurance of your cardiovascular and respiratory system. The cardiovascular system, by definition, is the network of anatomic structures, which can include the heart and our blood vessels that circulate blood throughout the body. The respiratory system, on the other hand, is the complex of organs and structures that performs the pulmonary ventilation of the body and the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the ambient air and the blood circulating throughout out the lungs. If you take these two systems into account, it means that both of these can play a significant role in how our body functions as a whole.

So, are you now convinced of why you need to get fit? So, stop slacking around and start being active!
